Travelers’ sentiment for 2020 & 2021
A survey recently conducted by Destinology reveals travelers’ sentiment for the summer 2020 and 2021. In addition the survey highlights travelles preferences for destinations and holidays budget.
2020
20% of responders said that it is extremely likely to book a holiday for summer 2020. Over all 46% stated that is possible to go on vacation this year.
2021
64% of people who had been surveyed also stated that they are extremely willing to book a holiday next year.
Travellers’ Budget
Travelers’ purchasing power is a critical factor for hospitality professionals and revenue managers. Budgeting and forecasting is based on people willingness to spend, a factor that affects room types selections, length of stay and in house consumptions. Based on Destinology survey we don’t monitor any drastic change to consumer budget for vacation. 60% of surveyed travelers say that they have the same amount of money as last year. 17% have more money to spend on vacation and just 4% have non budget due to COVID. Taking into account this information, we can be optimistic that if transportation goes back to normal, 2021 can be a good year.
Destinations
Europe is the leader when it comes to destination preference. The majority of responders seem to prefer Europe for their summer vacation followed by Indian Ocean.
Taking into account the results from Destinology, and the fact that many people are forced to postpone their vacations in 2020 due to flights cancelation, we can state that travelers’ sentiment for 2020 & 2021 remains positive. Once again, flights and available itineraries are critical for 2020 and 2021.
